Free bus travel for care leavers will save youngsters £1,000 a year

YOUNG people leaving care in the West of England will soon be able to travel for free on buses across the region.

The initiative builds on a popular existing scheme introduced in November 2023, which currently provides free bus travel for care leavers aged 18 to 21. Around 700 young people have already signed up, with numbers expected to double once the age range is increased to include those up to 25. The expanded offer could save each participant up to £1,050 a year on travel costs.
