Football Struber full of praise for City after draw against Ipswich
Bristol Post
|October 02, 2025
GERHARD Struber was quick to laud the “outstanding togetherness” of his Bristol City squad following the Robins' draw with Ipswich Town, despite being left frustrated by the “cheap” foul that led to the Tractor Boys' equaliser.
The Robins secured their fourth draw of the Championship season after Rob Atkinson's first-half header was cancelled out by Jack Clarke’s second-half penalty as the two sides shared the points at Ashton Gate on Tuesday night.
Struber's side took the lead after 18 minutes when Atkinson rose highest in the six-yard box to direct Anis Mehmeti’s corner beyond Alex Palmer and into the Ipswich net. Despite having chances to stretch their advantage, it was Kieran McKenna’s side who scored next when Clarke converted from the spot early in the second half.
The Robins came close to a winner late on when substitute Sinclair Armstrong saw a close-range effort saved by Palmer, and Zak Vyner sliced a shot over the crossbar. Although Struber, naturally, wanted his side to come out on top, he was delighted with the manner of their performance.
