Football City to open up at Blades, with Gas at home to Harrogate

BRISTOL City will kick off their 2025-26 Championship season, and the Gerhard Struber era, with an away game against Sheffield United before welcoming newly-promoted Charlton Athletic to Ashton Gate.
The opening-day clash with the Blades, which is a repeat of last season’s play-off semi-final, will kick off at the later time of 5.30pm while the first game of the campaign in BS3, against Nathan Jones’ Addicks, will be played a week later at a more traditional time of 3pm. City will then round off their first block of fixtures before the September international break with a trip to Pride Park to face Derby County and a home clash with Hull City.
The Tigers dodged the drop into League One on the final day of last season, with a draw against Portsmouth enough to finish above Luton Town on goal difference, but not enough for Ruben Selles, who is now Sheffield United boss, to keep his job at the MKM Stadium.
