FA Vase Mangotsfield leave it late to overcome battling Hengrove
Bristol Post
|August 25, 2025
MANGOTSFIELD United struck twice in the closing stages to edge a 2-1 victory at Hengrove Athletic in the FA vase first qualifying round.
Hengrove looked on course for a surprise win against their higher-level opponents when Dylan Whittle gave them a 78th-minute lead on his debut. However, Marcea Ilea equalised four minutes later, and Kyrese Morrison struck deep into stoppage-time to win it for Mangotsfield.
Avonmouth’s good start to the season continued with a 3-0 Vase victory at home to Brimscombe & Thrupp, delivered courtesy of two goals from Ethan McMahon and one from Josh Pearce.
Thornbury Town progressed to the next round with a 2-0 Friday night win at home to Shirehampton, while centre-back Taylor Doyle struck twice as Mendip Broadwalk won 4-1 at Cadbury Heath, for whom Jacob Littlewood was on target.
