PARENTS could face prosecution for allowing their children to ride e-scooters on the road.
Police have remined parents they could face prosecution for letting children ride e-scooters on public roads

Avon and Somerset Police issued the post-Christmas warning acknowledging that many families have purchased the devices as festive gifts without realising they cannot be used on public roads or pavements.
The force said privately owned e-scooters can only be ridden on private land with the landowner's permission. Their use is strictly prohibited on public highways, cycle lanes, parks and footpaths.
A spokesperson for the force explained that the gadgets are classified as "powered transporters" and fall under the legal definition of a motor vehicle.
