Bristol & District Richardson takes five as Claverham edge out Cleeve
Bristol Post
|July 22, 2025
LLOYD Richardson produced his best bowling figures of the season as relegation-threatened Claverham dug deep for a thrilling five-run home win over Cleeve in the Senior Division of the Martin Berrill Sports Bristol & District League.
The visitors appeared to have the points in the bag at 166-4 in the 36th over, needing only 34 more to complete the double over their local rivals.
But Richardson, who recently clocked up his 200th league appearance for the club, made all his experience count to put the pressure back on Cleeve with some smart flight and guile.
The all-rounder grabbed three wicket, while Callum Watts kept the heat on with a strike of his own as Cleeve chipped away at the modest target.
But, just as it looked as if the visitors were set to close out the win, Richardson took the final two wickets in two balls to finish with 5-25 - the second best figures of his career - to spark great scenes of celebration at Henley Lane.
