Bristol Post
|August 01, 2025
DUMBLETON continued their quest for a remarkable trophy treble with a 79-run victory away to Bishopston in the First Class Comms Gloucestershire Cup.
Captain Ross Martin (79) and Dan Holland (73) shared an opening stand of 158 as the visitors reached 253-7, with Lawrence Cook taking 3-44. Martin followed up with 5-45 from eight overs as Bish came up short, despite a gutsy unbeaten 74 from home captain Dave O'Brien.
The win puts Dumbleton into the last four of the county cup, where they face a trip to Chipping Sodbury.
With five rounds of games to go, Dumbleton are also top of WEPL's Premier Two Glos/Wilts division with a healthy 21-point lead.
On Sunday, Martin will skipper his side in a Voneus Village Cup semifinal trip to Stayley, of Cheshire, as Dumbleton bid to reach a Lord's final for the third time in four years.
