Appeal Friends set up fundraiser to help family with funeral costs

THE family of an 11-year-old boy who died from pancreatitis are urging other parents of children with special needs and disabilities to follow their instincts and be aware of illnesses that can happen.

Lucas died at Bristol Children’s Hospital at the start of November after a short, seven-week battle with necrotising pancreatitis, which came on suddenly and within weeks had tragically claimed his life.

Now friends of Lucas’ family have set up a fundraising page to help the family with funeral costs, after his death on November 3.

Lucas lived with his mum Laura Huggins, dad Matt and older brother Cameron in Peasedown St John, and went to Fosseway School.

"Lucas was a lovely little boy," said family friend Lauren Palmer, who has set up the fundraiser. “He had ASD and was nonverbal.
