Pupils to be given food for thought with visits from charity and farm

SCHOOLCHILDREN TO GET A TASTE OF HOW THEIR MEALS GET TO THE TABLE

HUNDREDS of children will be given a taste of life on a working farm belonging to the Crown Estate, including one in Boston.

Thorolds College Farm in Boston is one of several Crown Estate farms and estates that will be hosting visits for primary school children in socially and economically disadvantaged areas.

The Crown Estate, manages more than 185,000 acres of rural land, and is working with The Country Trust, a national education charity, to offer these visits so more children learn about nature, the countryside and food production. More than 1,000 pupils from all over the country will take part across a total of 40 visits.

During a visit, pupils will get to sow seeds, harvest vegetables, learn about animals and help feed them where possible.
