We can send men to space but I still can't cancel the third floor

In this day and age when we can send men into space and duplicate the actions of humans utilising A.I. technology how come we still can't override the buttons in an elevator?

I was recently in a hotel lift and pressed three instead of four but it was impossible to rectify my mistake and I was forced to visit the third floor regardless.

I reckon I have lost minutes if not hours of my life ascending and descending to destinations I didn't need, and that is wrong on every level! (Little Dad joke for you all there!)

The elevator is not the most annoying thing in hotels however, that title is reserved for the light switches inside the rooms.

The ones beside the beds that seem to have a different function each time you press them.

It's like taking on an escape room challenge trying to work out what combination of “switching” will blackout the room at bedtime.

I can never seem to get it right, I wish I could but I'm usually left in the dark (Another Dad joke for ya!).
