Christmas carols ruined by shrieking 'safer pod' siren

A Christmas carol service was brought to a screeching pause when an anti-ASB device activated during the festive event in Lytham at the weekend.

Carolers had gathered in Clifton Square for Saturday’s service when the piercing alarm attached to the police-operated ‘safer pod’ activated.

The portable, self-contained security hub emitted a high-intensity siren and repeatedly flashed strobe lights, as the carolers and public shielded their ears and eyes.
