Paedophile's 'lenient' jail sentence to be reviewed

THE Attorney General is reviewing the jail sentence handed down to a Black Country teaching assistant who sexually abused children with special educational needs and disabilities.

Daniel Clarke, 28, from Bloxwich, was jailed for seven years and six months, after pleading guilty to sexual offences against six vulnerable children who he met while working at a Solihull school.

Saqib Bhatti, MP for Meriden and Solihull East, wrote to the Attorney General for England and Wales, requesting the jail term be reviewed under the Unduly Lenient Sentence scheme.

The office has confirmed that it is reviewing the jail sentence.

Mr Bhatti said: "I am pleased that the Attorney General is reviewing the sentence handed down to Clarke under the Undue Lenient Sentence Scheme (ULS).
