Exile dreams of regime change amid Iran attack

Israeli and US missiles were this week launched into Iran, hitting military and nuclear sites. Iran responded with a thwarted missile attack on a US airbase in Qatar.

Birmingham-based Mojgan, 57, now believes that there is a chance that the mullahs of Iran who have tortured and killed their own natives for years could be gone for good if events unfold favourably.

“I hardly dare dream of it but it is my strongest wish that the ayatollahs and the Islamic Republic regime is finally ended,” she said.

Mojgan is among 1,500 Iranians who have made their home in Birmingham and the West Midlands.

Most like her are here as refugees, forced to flee Iran after voicing opposition.

She has been fighting for change since the shahs were driven out and the ayatollahs took over, 46 years ago, during the Iranian Revolution.

President Trump acted, without UK backing. He ordered Operation Midnight Hammer, an unprecedented B-2 raid on uranium enrichment facilities at Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan in Iran.
