Bosses were left in dark over worker's sordid sex offences

A MIDLAND firm has told of its shock after learning a long-term employee had been charged with sex offences.

- ANNBAL BAGDI News Reporter

Jason Hill walked free from court after confessing he wanted to 'hunt down children and rape them' in disturbing online chats with fellow paedophiles.

But during his court hearing, Hill's defence barrister claimed his employers "are aware of allegations and they remain supportive of Mr Hill".

Miss Akhtar, defending, told Wolverhampton Crown Court that Hill was employed as a forklift driver and warehouse operative by a family friend, earning about £1,500 a month. She said he was allowed to return to his full-time role following the sentencing hearing.

But after news of his crimes broke, the company told the Post they had been left in the dark over the true nature of the charges he faced.

They insisted they were not told that Hill had been accused of sex offences and had they known, they would not have offered support. They said they were only aware of the knife charge and provided a character reference for that.

Bosses confirmed that Hill - who worked with the firm for 10 years - has had his employment terminated with immediate effect.
