Two jobs are not enough to stave off homelessness

CLEANER LOSES HOME IN SECTION 21 EVICTION

A BIRMINGHAM woman has told how she was made homeless twice, despite holding down two jobs.

Maureen - who only wants to be known by her first name - is responsible for cleaning some of Birmingham's best-known sites but is currently living in temporary accommodation after being served a Section 21 notice by her landlord in May 2025.

A Section 21 notice, also called a no-fault eviction, allows landlords to evict tenants within eight weeks without a reason, but the Government is looking to change that by the end of this year.

Maureen, 49, works as a cleaner at Aston University in the morning and cleans Birmingham's barrister chambers in the evening.
