Top cop recognised in New Years Honours list

A WEST Midlands Police detective who's investigated some of the most dangerous criminals in the region and a staff officer have both made the New Year's Honours list.
Detective Constable Mark Plant has been awarded a Kings Police Medal for his services over the past two decades, including tracking down a gang of eight criminals who netted £70,000 in cash by attacking cashpoints.
DC Plant also works as a family liaison officer (FLO) to provide a professional and friendly ear to those who have suffered unimaginable loss because of criminality or accident.
He was also awarded a Pride of Britain award for bravery when he detained a robbery suspect by stepping in front of a vehicle and clinging onto the roof at 50mph.
