BIRMINGHAM residents hit by the bin strikes have been dealt another blow - a river of waste water running outside their homes.

People in a Longbridge street said they faced a “horrible” smell as waste water flowed down a communal pathway.

Dearmont Road resident Brendan Dalton called the problem a “public health issue” and an emergency but claimed he, along with his neighbours, had been “fobbed off” by Severn Trent Water despite their complaints.

The issue began at the end of March when sewage began “pooling” around the back of a neighbouring property.

He said: “With the weather we have had, the smell has been even worse and it’s just been left.
