HE is yet to set foot in the Damson Park dugout but new manager Chris Millington insists he already feels very much at home with Solihull Moors.

It is just over a week since the former FC Halifax Town boss was confirmed as successor to Matt Taylor, with assistant Andy Cooper also arriving in a new backroom team alongside interim James Quinn, who reverts to his coaching role.

Millington admits Moors’ ambition and facilities ticked all the right boxes - and so did the quality within the squad, albeit one which he feels needs more strength in depth.

He aims to get Moors back on the right road to show they can still be playoff contenders - but the immediate route today takes them 150 miles to Kent to open their FA Cup campaign at Ebbsfleet United following last week's 1-1 National League draw at Eastleigh.

“It’s only just a week in the job but, in a good way, it feels like I've been around a lot longer,” said Millington. “Everyone has been so welcoming to me and Coops.

“The immediate football staff have been fantastic, supportive and helpful; the players have been incredibly welcoming and, of course, the chairman and people above me have been very supportive. It’s been absolutely brilliant and I feel right at home already.

“The reception I have had since coming in, it's felt like a really warm club in terms of the fanbase and the community. That was an attraction as well - that’s important to both me and Coops.
