Jolly good Fellows is Mowbray toast after crucial win
Birmingham Mail
|April 14, 2025
WEST Brom head coach Tony Mowbray eulogised Tom Fellows' standout display, highlighting the young player's dual assists during their 2-1 triumph against Watford in the Championship.
Fellows proved pivotal for the Baggies, creating two key opportunities that Karlan Grant and Mikey Johnston converted at The Hawthorns, propelling West Brom to seventh in the league, while a struggling Watford, despite Moussa Sissoko's effort, dropped to 11th after their third loss in five matches.
The boss was full of praise for Fellows' confidence and performance.
"Fellows is a wonderful, wonderful player. He is a very unassuming boy," said Mowbray.
"He never knocks on my door saying, 'why am I not playing? I feel like deserved to play. He just accepts my decisions and gets on with it. He's a dream footballer to manage, really." Despite Watford having more of the ball, it was the hosts who fashioned the clearer cut chances, with two goals enough to see them through to victory.
Amidst recent setbacks, with West Brom facing three consecutive defeats, Mowbray praised his team and staff for their resilience. "Having to deal with the three results that came in the last 10 days and I've said repeatedly, I think the performance level of those games were really high and could easily have won all of them games," he said.Denne historien er fra April 14, 2025-utgaven av Birmingham Mail.
