It's MORR frustration as Baggies stalemate ends hope
Birmingham Mail
|April 28, 2025
ALBION’S interim boss James Morrison - in charge for the first time after Tony Mowbray was sacked on Monday - cut a frustrated figure after the goalless draw that relegated Cardiff from the Championship and ended the goal-shy Baggies wafer-thin play-off hopes
Just one win in their last six league games has meant the Baggies have slipped away into mid-table mediocrity after at one-time looking a sure bet to finish in the top six.
"I was pleased with the backline who defended well and put their bodies on the line," said Morrison.
"But I’m frustrated with that last bit. Feels that’s the story of our season. I asked them to take that anger and frustration of the week into the game and I could sense that."
The Bluebirds’ return to the third tier of English football for the first time since 2003 was sealed on an anxious afternoon in the Welsh capital - six years after Cardiff had been playing in the Premier League.
Aaron Ramsey, the Wales captain and Cardiff midfielder currently out injured, was in interim charge for the second time but no blame can be attached to him for the Bluebirds’ fall from grace which, in truth, has been a long time coming.
