HOW WILL YOUR GARDEN GROW?
Birmingham Mail
|January 03, 2026
NOW the new year is with us, your garden can bring a fresh burst of optimism.
-
January is the perfect moment to look back at the year just gone and shape your plans for 2026.PAUSE AND LOOK BACK
Take a gentle wander around the garden. Wrap up warm with a hot drink, look, and reflect.
Ask yourself two questions...
What did you love about your garden this year?
What would you change?
Consider moments that made you smile. Perhaps it was a brilliant container display of spring bulbs, tomatoes that kept coming, or a border buzzing with bees in summer.
Then, notice the areas you would like to improve - bare corners in winter, containers you struggled to maintain, or lawns which need some love. These will give you some great starting points for this year.
TRENDS FOR 2026
Garden trends for this year will continue to focus on spaces working hard for people and wildlife. Many designers talk about naturalistic planting, climate resilience, and gardens which feel like relaxed outdoor rooms.
