23-YEAR-OLD PRAISES THE HOST WHO OFFERED HIM HER SPARE ROOM
Tyler Green, 23, was sleeping in cars and train stations before he met Ann Tierney who hosted him at her Erdington home through city organisation Standing Tall
A BIRMINGHAM painter who was homeless until he moved in with a host family said they gave him “hope” for the future.
Tyler Green, 23, was sleeping in cars and train stations before he met Ann Tierney, who opened up her spare room in Erdington to give him a chance.
Four years on, he is looking to set up his own carpentry business with a view to building his own home on a plot of land.
The pair met through the Standing Tall organisation and shared their story at its first homelessness summit. Tyler moved in with Ann in May 2021 for six months.
He now lives independently but still pops in to see Ann, who regularly opens her spare room to the homeless.
Tyler said: “I was introduced to Standing Tall through homelessness through another charity organisation and I worked with Standing Tall for a few years.
“When I was living with Ann there was loads of support, there was always a laugh, always a joke, always kept my spirits up, kept me going and gave me a bit of hope.
