WEEKEND EVENT SAW LOCALS COUNTER RAISING OF ST GEORGE AND UNION
Flags were cut down in the weekend event, also inset above, after confrontation during Raise The Colours' raising of the flags last Wednesday
BIRMINGHAM City Council said it is “monitoring the situation” after national flags were raised in the centre of two suburbs, sparking divisions.
Tensions have flared between locals and Raise the Colours, who have been using a cherry picker to attach the St George and Union flags to lampposts in Moseley and Stirchley.
West Midlands Police were called to St Mary’s Row last Wednesday as the group ignored calls to stop putting up the flags and roadside arguments broke out.
