Bus and Metro users fall but rail on the rise

CHANGES PINNED ON FARE CAP INCREASE AND FEWER CANCELLED TRAINS
THE number of passengers using buses and the Metro in the West Midlands dropped while train boardings have increased.
Members of the West Midlands Combined Authority's Transport Delivery Overview and Scrutiny Committee will be presented with a report detailing usage of public transport in the region.
And statistics show the number of bus boardings in quarter three (October to December) in 2025/26 stood at 59.99 million - a drop of 5.9 per cent from 63.74 million in the same period the previous year.
Midland Metro boardings suffered a slight decrease of 1.6 per cent with 2.45 million in Q3 of 2025/26 compared with 2.49 million the previous year.
