TIME IS CALLED ON 'BEST PUB IN BRUM' WITH PUNTERS DEVASTATED
AN old Grade II-listed pub described by fans as the 'best in Birmingham' has closed its doors.
The Anchor, in Bradford Street, Digbeth, announced it would close as it faced cost pressures.
Landlord Julian Rose-Gibbs said that 'the age of the Anchor is over' but offered few other details on the future of the venue.
Mr Rose-Gibbs said: "Costs of everything rise and independents suffer. Nothing lasts forever.
"This age of the Anchor is over. It's been emotional."
The Anchor received its first pub licence back in 1797.
