A total of 23 local athletes will be in action in the South West Schools Track & Field Championships at the Exeter Arena on Saturday.
The majority, 20, will be representing Avon with a further three in the colours of Avon as they all seek to clinch a place in their county teams for the English Schools Championships next month.
Team Bath AC is well represented, with Jemima Woods of Hayesfield School doubling up in the senior girls 200m and 400m and Jamie Semple selected for the senior boys 200m and high jump. Sprinter Ashley Avis tackles the senior boys 100m and 200m, while Wellsway’s Owen Garrett goes in the seniors shot and discus.
Grace Wicher, who cleared an outdoor PB of 1.51m last Sunday in the Midland League, has also been selected for the inter girls high jump.
Kingswood’s Ewan Sparey, the reigning national junior boys 800m champion, is missing the event even though he emphatically won the Avon inter boys’ title as he has been pencilled in to run the English Schools Championships.
