Art competition entries highlight plight of rivers
Bath Chronicle
|July 10, 2025
A group of talented young artists have turned their passion for nature into powerful visual messages in a poster competition celebrating the River Avon.
More than 30 children aged seven to 13 submitted entries to the River Avon Poster Competition, organised by the environmental charity Transition Bath in collaboration with the Wild Waters Festival, which ran from Saturday, May 31, to Sunday, June 15.
The entries, drawn from local schools and individuals across Bath and surrounding areas, featured striking depictions of wildlife, river scenes and messages about protecting the environment. Sunlit waters, herons, beavers and paddleboarders were joined by powerful calls to action on pollution and conservation. The winners, selected by a panel of judges, were announced in three age categories:
Ages 7-9:
Alice, aged 9, from Bathampton Primary
Ages 10-11:
Molly, aged 11, from Pensford Primary
Ages 12-13:
Eben, aged 13, who is home-schooled
