The baht is expected to trade in a range of 31.00-31.85 to the US dollar this week, supported by a rally in global gold prices driven largely by the US invasion in Venezuela.
Kanjana Chockpisansin, head of banking and financial sector research at Kasikorn Research Center (K-Research), said the baht was bolstered by a sharp rise in global gold prices and continued capital inflows into the Thai bond market.
By midday yesterday, foreign purchases of Thai bonds tallied 1.4 billion baht, according to K-Research.
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) also drew renewed foreign interest, climbing 1.8% to 1,282 points by midday.
