Come September 26, Bethpage Black Golf Course will become more than a stage for competition. It will be a crucible of noise and nerves, where bonds are tested and legends are forged together.
For three days, the famed Long Island course will host the 45th edition of the Ryder Cup, the biennial contest between the best golfers of Europe and the United States, and one of the most prestigious events in international sports.
The Ryder Cup strips golf down to its essence: 12 players setting aside individual ambition to pull for one another in pursuit of a shared victory.
That spirit is mirrored in the longstanding support Rolex has offered to both the Ryder Cup and to golf as a whole. Since becoming Official Timekeeper for Team Europe in 1995, and later a Worldwide Partner of the competition in 2021, Rolex has been steadfast as a custodian of the game's core values — integrity, precision and tradition — that define the game.
These values will be on full display as Team Europe, led once again by Luke Donald, aims to defend its title following a 16.5-11.5 victory in Rome two years ago.
The 47-year-old Englishman, who is a Rolex Testimonee, boasts a playing record in the Ryder Cup as flawless as his leadership qualities. He returns with quiet resolve and a sense of history.
