Somsak backs vetoing MCT in Thaksin case
Bangkok Post
|June 01, 2025
Public Health Minister Somsak Thepsuthin has defended his decision to veto the Medical Council of Thailand (MCT)'s ruling to penalise doctors involved in the controversial hospitalisation of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra on the 14th floor of the premium ward at Police General Hospital (PGH).
He said that his decision was based on findings from investigative committees and rejected allegations of political interference.
Four doctors were investigated following the MCT’s ruling, which concluded there was no evidence that Thaksin had suffered from any serious illness warranting his prolonged stay in the premium ward.
