SLF to require B20bn in state support yearly through 2030

The Student Loan Fund (SLF) needs to request more than 20 billion baht in annual government support through 2030 to shore up liquidity, as loan applications remain consistently high while repayments are declining.
According to a source from the SLF who requested anonymity, for fiscal 2026, the fund aims to seek a budget allocation of 21.9 billion baht from the government to be used for student loans, exceeding the 19-billion-baht support approved in fiscal 2025.
The SLF, a government student loan fund operating as a revolving fund, has received government support since its establishment in 1997. From 2018 through 2024, the fund was able to rely on its own liquidity to manage student lending.
