The 35-year-old woman at the centre of a scandal involving sexual relationships with 13 monks was charged yesterday with illegal online gambling, according to the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB)

- WASSAYOS NGAMKHAM

Pol Col Runglert Kantajan, superintendent of Subdivision 1 of CCIB Division 1, said Wilawan Emsawat, better known as Sika Golf, admitted the charge and provided information about the gambling websites she used. However, he said that she refused to disclose the sources of the money she spent on betting.

Investigators presented the charge to her at the Central Women's Correctional Institution, where she is being held, after evidence was found linking her to online gambling platforms.

The offence is punishable by up to one year in prison and a maximum fine of 1,000 baht per count. Pol Col Runglert said police expect to forward the case to prosecutors today.
