Ratchanok Intanon advanced to the last 16 of the season-opening BWEF Malaysia Open 2026 in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

The Thai seventh seed took 35 minutes to defeat Malvika Bansod of India 21-11, 21-11 to reach the second round of the US$1,450,000 (approx 46,400,000 baht) World Tour Super 1000 event.

Ratchanok will next play Mia Blichfeldt after the Danish player edged past Natsuki Nidaira of Japan 21-15, 23-21, 22-20.

Women’s doubles pair Ornnicha Jongsathapornparn and Sukitta Suwachai put on a battling display to upset eighth seeds Yeung Nga Ting and Yeung Pui Lam of Hong Kong 21-19, 11-21, 21-16.
