Push to arrest drug kingpin, seize assets

Justice Minister Pol Col Tawee Sodsong has directed Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) secretary-general Pol Lt Gen Panurat Lakboon to visit Myanmar to seek cooperation in the arrest of a drug kingpin, Thatchapon Trakulmungmeedee, and the seizure of his 1-billion-baht in assets.
The move followed an operation aimed at seizing assets from wanted drug dealers and their families, totalling eight individuals, in Chiang Rai province. While the operation seized over 15.1 million baht in assets, including houses, land, a car and a luxury watch, the eight suspects have yet to be found.
