Pizza Hut's parent company weighs selling struggling chain

Yum! Brands, home to popular fast-food restaurant chains like Taco Bell and KFC, said Tuesday that it was exploring "strategic options" for its struggling Pizza Hut division.
While global sales at Taco Bell and KFC have been booming, Pizza Hut has been a drag on Yum's performance for some time, as it has lost market share in the competitive pizza market.
Pizza Hut has "a unique opportunity to reclaim the leading position in the highly fragmented pizza market," Chris Turner, CEO of Yum, said on a call Tuesday with analysts and investors. "We believe a different approach, including but not limited to a sale of the business, would allow Pizza Hut to realise its full potential."
The strategic review is a quick move by Mr Turner, who took over as CEO in October after serving as Yum's chief financial officer since 2019.
