Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul, president of the Badminton World Federation (BWF), has praised the organisation of this year’s World Championships in Paris, calling it a shining example of how badminton continues to unite people worldwide.

Speaking at a media town hall on Sunday during the tournament finals, Khunying Patama, who is also a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), said she was “very satisfied” with both the quality of play and the atmosphere in the French capital, which had hosted the Olympic Games only last year.

“The players gave amazing performances, and the fans enjoyed great matches,’ she said. “I also want to thank the French Badminton Federation for their excellent organisation and strong teamwork with the BWF. The atmosphere in Paris is a great reminder of the lasting legacy such events bring — not only to sport, but also to society.”
