Ministry backs 'zero dropout' rollout

The Ministry of Interior has intensified efforts to eliminate educational inequality by tasking local administrative bodies, including municipalities and tambon administrative organisations (TAOs), to lead a nationwide campaign to bring all out-of-school children and youths back into the education system.
Manat Suwannarin, a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, said yesterday that the ministry, overseen by Anutin Charnvirakul, is working closely with the Ministry of Education and other agencies to ensure that “no one is left behind”.
A key component of this agenda is the “Thailand Zero Dropout” policy, endorsed by the cabinet in May 2024.
This policy aims to eradicate the number of children and youths missing from the education system.
The Ministry of Interior has been appointed as a member of the national steering committee and has directed all provincial governors to establish corresponding provincial committees since February this year. These committees are to work closely with Provincial Education Offices, he said.
