Maybank aims to double profit by 2030

Maybank Securities (Thailand) has set an ambitious goal to double its profit to 1 billion baht by 2030, supported by an expansion of its retail business, activation of private fund operations and a shift to become a comprehensive financial partner rather than a transaction-driven broker.

Chief executive Arapat Sangkharat said the firm's model differs from peers that focus heavily on high-frequency trading platforms, algorithmic systems or pure buy-side recommendations.

“Our aim is to build a sustainable business that grows alongside our clients,’ Mr Arapat said, noting Thai investors still value human-led investment advice in tandem with artificial intelligence-driven insights.

“Technology alone is insufficient for consistent returns. Investment consultants [ICs] remain central to portfolio planning in the new investment era,’ he said.

Maybank Securities employs around 400 ICs and plans to nearly double that number within 3-5 years. This expansion aligns with its profit growth trajectory from roughly 500 million baht in 2024 to 1 billion by 2030.
