Link stoppage hits Thai customers in Cambodia

Thai telecom operators and some of their Thai corporate customers doing business in Cambodia are suffering from telecom and broadband network disconnection between the two countries, following border tensions.
State enterprise National Telecom (NT) disclosed yesterday two routes of its cable network running from Thailand to Cambodia were disconnected, affecting broadband internet service to its Thai corporate customers in Cambodia.
According to NT president Col Sanphachai Huvanandana, on Friday morning the quality of its broadband service in Cambodia dropped, prompting an investigation.
The company’s cable networks running from Aranyaprathet and Koh Kood to Cambodia were disconnected.
“The disruption of the broadband internet signal of both routes affected our Thai customers in Cambodia,” he said, adding it is too early to evaluate the damage.
