JCB targets wealthy Thai credit card customers

JCB International (Thailand), the local unit of the Japan-based global card network, aims to grow its upper-income customer segment over three years to increase spending by Thai cardholders.

JCB has around 2 million premium cardholders, highlighted by its JCB Ultimate Card, accounting for 15-20% of its total card base. The company plans to expand this segment to 30% within three years, which would significantly increase card spending, said Yusuke Matsui, managing director of JCB International (Thailand).

Premium cardholders spend 1.5 times more on average than the overall portfolio, with outbound travel showing particularly strong growth among Thai premium users.
