Innovation drives new era of farming

The 17th “Rak Ban Kerd Farmers of the Year” awards highlighted farmers who use technology to manage natural resources sustainably.

“Many young people are returning to agriculture as large numbers move back to their hometowns to work closer to their parents and families, contributing to the prosperity of local communities,” said Boonchai Bencharongkul, chairman of the Ruam Duay Chuay Kan Sam Nuek Rak Ban Kerd Foundation.

“Critical success factors for farmers are using agricultural technology and social media tools. Our foundation has developed an e-book featuring 200 successful cases of farmers using technology, with the aim of building a network that helps newcomers reduce risk.”

Three winners were selected out of 10 outstanding farmers recognised as visionary for integrating technology, sustainability and community development into their agricultural practices.

The first winner was Tharaphong Wongwattanakit, owner of Gardener House in Ratchaburi province.
