Industry supremo to curb cheap goods
Bangkok Post
|September 27, 2025
New Industry Minister Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana says he will “race against time” to launch new measures to support state efforts to protect the Thai manufacturing sector against the influx of low-cost imports from China.
He also plans to continue the policy of cracking down on illegal factories, initiated by his predecessor Ekanat Promphan.
“The government's term is short-lived, lasting only four months, so we need to work quickly to deal with many issues, especially economic problems,’ Mr Thanakorn told reporters when he took office yesterday.
The Anutin Charnvirakul government is scheduled to deliver its policy statement to parliament on Sept 29-30, after which its term officially commences.
