Exim Bank advises SMEs to look abroad

Thailand needs to increase the number of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that can export goods to global markets to build long-term sustainability in the shipment sector, according to the new chief of Export-Import (Exim) Bank of Thailand.

Charat Rattanaboonniti, the bank's president, said Thailand’s export growth is expected to slow in 2026, with Exim Bank forecasting growth of about 2%, down from an estimated 13% this year.

“Next year, Thailand's export sector will continue to face the impact of US President Donald Trump's tariff measures, exchange rate volatility, intensifying trade competition and a high base effect,” he said.

“Strengthening Thailand’s export sector requires increasing the number of exporters.”
