Questions plague agency's recruitment of new boss
Mr Nuttapon says the selection process complies with regulations and transparency standards.
The Digital Economy Promotion Agency's (depa) board of commissioners has scrapped the recruitment process the agency uses to appoint a new president and chief executive, opting instead to review the selection process.
The board said the agency's selection subcommittee lacked the quorum required, leaving it unable to perform its duties until new members were promoted to the panel to replace two members who resigned.
Moreover, no applications have been submitted and the recruitment period should be extended to allow more time for people to apply, noted the board.
Digital Economy and Society (DES) Minister Chaichanok Chidchob recently expressed doubts about details concerning the selection process.
The term of Nuttapon Nimmanphatcharin, the current depa president and chief executive, ended in July this year after he served two consecutive four-year terms. However, he remains in the position while the selection process for a successor continues.
Mr Nuttapon sat on the subcommittee tasked with selecting a new president before recently deciding to step down.
The board recently held a meeting to acknowledge changes to the selection subcommittee following the resignations of Mr Nuttapon and Chomparee Chompurat, who was a representative of the DES Ministry.
