CREC probed for nominees
Bangkok Post
|April 03, 2025
The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) is probing shareholdings by suspected Thai nominees in China Railway No.10 Engineering Co (CREC) while the ITD-CREC consortium has defended its construction standards approved by the State Audit Office (SAO).
-
ITD-CREC, a joint venture between SET-listed Italian-Thai Development Plc and China Railway No.10 Thailand Co, was awarded the contract to put up the 2.1-billion-baht building for the SAO.
Justice Minister Tawee Sodsong said yesterday the DSI has gathered sufficient evidence to suspect the use of nominees at the company, which is legally required to have at least 51% Thai ownership.
The minister said the company has registered capital exceeding 100 million baht and more than 10 companies have been found using the same group of Thai directors and the same registered business address.
"The DSI's investigation has found credible evidence, warranting the case to be classified as a special investigation," he said.
