Ceremony marks Sri Lanka ties
Bangkok Post
|October 27, 2025
The 22nd Royal Kathina Robe Offering Ceremony, held on Saturday at Malwathu Maha Viharaya in Kandy, further deepened the longstanding friendship between Thailand and Sri Lanka, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says.
Theravada Buddhism serves as a bridge of cultural and spiritual connection between the two nations, it added.
The Royal Kathina Robe was graciously bestowed by His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua in a ceremony presided over by political adviser to the ministry Jukr Boon-Long.
This year’s ceremony underscored more than two decades of religious and diplomatic cooperation between Thailand and Sri Lanka, who share deep-rooted ties in Theravada Buddhism, said the adviser.
