CHARTER AMENDMENT
The People's Party's (PP) charter amendment bill, which was adopted as the opposition's main legislation for constitutional amendment, has raised concerns over possible changes to Chapters 1 and 2 of the constitution, prompting calls for careful review of the final draft before it is passed by parliament.
Chapter 1 contains sections that define Thailand as a single, indivisible kingdom with a democratic regime and establish the King as the head of state. Chapter 2, meanwhile, outlines royal prerogatives.
Deputy Prime Minister Borwornsak Uwanno said that several revisions to the bills are expected to be floated during the deliberation process, but what matters the most is the content of the final draft for the final reading.
