Anutin axes ITD contracts

Move follows two fatal crane disasters

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul yesterday ordered the Ministry of Transport to terminate two contracts with Italian-Thai Development Plc (ITD) following consecutive fatal crane accidents in Nakhon Ratchasima's Sikhiu district and on Rama II Road.

Speaking at Government House after a meeting on construction safety measures, Mr Anutin said the accidents had severely shaken public confidence and posed serious risks to lives and property.

He ordered the Transport Ministry to cancel the contracts, pursue legal proceedings, and blacklist the contractor, citing advice from the Council of State and the Attorney General.

"The government's priority is public safety and restoring international confidence in Thailand's infrastructure projects," Mr Anutin said.
