4 foreigners arrested in scam cases

Immigration Police (IB) have arrested a high-profile Chinese fugitive wanted for orchestrating a massive financial fraud scheme worth over 1.5 billion baht, along with three Taiwanese nationals believed to be members of an international call centre scam network.
Pol Maj Gen Panthana Nuchanart, IB deputy commissioner, yesterday announced the arrests at the Immigration Bureau Training and Welfare Centre in Muang Thong Thani.
The arrests across two separate cases follow intensified efforts to crack down on foreign criminals using Thailand as a base for illicit activities.
In the first case, officers from the IB’s investigation division arrested Dong (surname withheld), a 55-year-old Chinese national wanted by Chinese authorities for allegedly operating an illegal public deposit scheme.
