WHITE COLLAR BOXING BOSS ALSO UP FOR FIGHT OF TAKING ON EVEREST TO MARK 10 YEARS OF FUND-RASING WHICH HAS GENERATED £40M FOR GOOD CAUSES

A Derbyshire businessman has set his sights on climbing Everest, and scaling Kilimanjaro in a day, to mark a decade of fundraising efforts - after his businesses passed the £40m mark for charity proceeds.

Jon Leonard, 45, who lives in Ashbourne, runs Derby-based Ultra White Collar Boxing - the largest boxing organisation in the UK.

Over 20,000 participate in boxing matches through Ultra every year and those taking part are asked to raise at least £50 for charity.

Most far exceed this and participants have now raised over £40m through Ultra, for charities including Cancer Research, Make-A-Wish, The Mental Health Foundations and hundreds of local charities across the country.

Ultra participants in Derby alone have raised over £1.6m of that figure.

Leading by example, Jon has spent a decade embarking on a number of fundraising challenges himself.

This year alone he has raised over £40,000 for charity attempting to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in 24 hours, trekking to Machu Picchu and even stepping on stage to try his hand at being a comedian.

His previous fundraising efforts have included running marathons and learning to ballroom dance.
